Careers

Careers at the Society of Dyers and Colourists Enterprises — paid roles, committee and volunteer opportunities, and student internships.

The Society of Dyers and Colourists Enterprises Ltd (SDCE) and the Society’s registered charity arm employ a small team across editorial, technical, and operational functions. We are based at Perkin House in Bradford, with remote and hybrid working arrangements for most roles.

Current openings

No open roles at present. When positions become available they will be advertised on this page and circulated to SDC members through the Society Bulletin.

Volunteer and committee opportunities

Beyond paid roles, the Society relies on a network of committee members and volunteer reviewers drawn from industry and academia. The Nomenclature Committee, the Historical Committee, and the regional section committees are all open to suitably qualified members — see sdc.org.uk for the current call for nominations.

Student internships

The SDC offers occasional summer internships to undergraduate and postgraduate students in chemistry, conservation science, and textile technology. Interns work on a defined editorial or technical project under the supervision of the Editorial Board. Internships are typically advertised in March for a July–September placement.
